> Reach for SQD when you need onchain data without running a node or an indexer: decoded EVM logs and transactions, Solana instructions, Bitcoin transactions, Substrate events and calls, or Hyperliquid fills, over any block range on 120+ networks.

# SQD plugin for Cursor

> Install SQD in Cursor with blockchain data tools and four official SQD skills.

The SQD plugin connects Cursor to blockchain data across 120+ networks through the hosted Portal MCP server. MCP query tools cover EVM networks, Solana, Polkadot and other Substrate networks, Bitcoin, Hyperliquid, and Tron. The plugin adds 31 read-only MCP tools plus four skills for Portal, Pipes SDK, and Squid SDK projects.

<Info>
  The SQD public Marketplace listing is awaiting Cursor review. Until it is approved, the local install below provides the same plugin package. No repository clone is required.
</Info>

## Install

<Steps>
  <Step title="Download the plugin into Cursor's local plugins folder">
    ```bash theme={"system"}
    mkdir -p ~/.cursor/plugins/local/sqd
    curl -fsSL https://github.com/subsquid-labs/portal-mcp-server/archive/refs/tags/v0.8.5.tar.gz \
      | tar -xz --strip-components=3 -C ~/.cursor/plugins/local/sqd portal-mcp-server-0.8.5/plugins/portal
    ```

    No SQD account, API key, or plugin setting is required.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reload Cursor">
    Restart Cursor or run **Developer: Reload Window** from the command palette.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the plugin is active">
    Open **Customize** and confirm that `SQD` appears with its MCP server and four skills.
  </Step>
</Steps>

When the public listing is approved, you can instead open **Customize**, search for `SQD`, select **Install**, and choose user or project scope.

## Try it

* "Show me the last 200 BTC perp fills on Hyperliquid."
* "How many transactions landed on Base in the past 2h?"
* "Show me the latest 20 USDC transfers on Base from the past hour."
* "Track USDT transfers on Tron."
* "Migrate this Squid SDK project from the v2 gateway to Portal."
* "Build a Pipes SDK indexer for USDC transfers on Ethereum."

For a bounded data question, Cursor should call a `portal_` tool and return query results. The bundled Portal skill handles raw exports, including data shapes not exposed as a dedicated MCP tool. The other skills help build Pipes SDK indexers, migrate Squid SDK projects, and compare Squid sync performance.

## Troubleshooting

* **SQD does not appear:** confirm that `~/.cursor/plugins/local/sqd/.cursor-plugin/plugin.json` exists, then restart Cursor or run **Developer: Reload Window**.
* **Local plugin imports are disabled:** on Teams and Enterprise plans, a Cursor administrator controls local plugin imports in the dashboard. Ask your administrator to allow them, or wait for the public Marketplace listing.
* **Tools are disconnected:** open Cursor MCP settings and confirm the `SQD` server points to `https://portal.sqd.dev/mcp`.
* **Update to a newer release:** delete `~/.cursor/plugins/local/sqd`, then repeat the install with the new version tag.
* **Remove the plugin:** delete `~/.cursor/plugins/local/sqd` and reload Cursor.
* **Prefer manual MCP setup:** configure the endpoint from the [Portal MCP Server](/en/ai/mcp-server) page instead.
